Happy New Year! I realise it’s already January 7th but better late than never, right? And, with this new year comes a time of great possibility.
On the concept of possibility, Christopher Bollas wrote in 1987, “it is a person, place, thing, or idea that lights you up not exactly because of what it is, but because of the possibilities it represents; something which promises to transform the self”.
The change of year, although realistically not that big of a deal, is refreshing and always brings a sense of hope that maybe this will be your year. It may not, but if it provides you with the motivation you need to get shit done, go with it!
After going with the flow throughout December [and in all honesty, the majority of the latter part of 2018], it’s time to get going. This month, my new year’s motivation will be focused towards finding a sense of balance between my social and work life; something I feel my life has been somewhat lacking.
Throwing myself wholeheartedly into working isn’t going to be fun but it needs to be done in order to move towards my future goals. And, as January continues, I’ll use the new year as a motivating force to focus on the bigger picture and not fret about the small inconveniences that come my way.
