Every few seasons or so, a bag comes along and becomes the one bag everybody desires. Thanks to the recent logomania trend, ‘it’ bags of late have been dominated by those adorned with the likes of Louis Vuitton’s monogram and Fendi’s Zucca print, amongst others. But, during fashion month back in February, a more subdued piece was the choice of many attendees, one that was created specifically as an antithesis to the typical ‘it’ bag offerings.

BOYY has acquired a loyal following over the years, before reaching peak popularity during the most recent fashion month. After seeing them on the arms of a good number of fashion insiders, I took interest in the opportunity to add a more subdued piece to my bag collection and was lucky enough to find an all-black “Bobby 16” at half-price in the Selfridges sale.
My particular bag is from the 2019 Cruise collection and features a structured design and architectural silhouette in smooth calf leather, punctuated by the brand’s signature belt detail at the front in black lacquered plastic, a style element I much prefer to the typical metallic offering. Its interior is suede-lined in grey with a small slip pocket to hold bank cards.
The bag can be either carried by hand or by its detachable shoulder strap. While the “Bobby 16” is admittedly small, it happily fits all the essentials (phone, keys, lipgloss, bank cards) and the multiple carrying options, alongside its sleek minimalist design, makes it a really versatile piece. I plan on carrying it by hand with sweet summer dresses or crossbody with oversized sweatshirts and hoodies as the weather begins to cool.
The Cruise 19 “Bobby 16” is out of stock, however, it is available with an antique copper-toned buckle, and in a variety of other colours, at luisaviaroma.com
