Well January seemed to last about 74 days, didn’t it? The combination of trying to compensate for a Christmas/Boxing Day/New Year’s worth of food and champagne, figuring out what I’m going to do until I resume my studies in September and a serious case of S.A.D have resulted in a very miserable Bec. But January is finally over – thank God – and, with the month of love upon us, I plan to douse myself in positive vibes and self-appreciation.
February 14th is Valentine’s Day and for the 23rd year running I am single. Romance is certaintly not in the air as far as I’m concerned. I do however plan to practice a different kind of love this month: self-love. Before you wonder about the connotations you dirty-minded soul, I simply mean that I’m going to treat myself with love and respect, something I too often forget to do. I’m going to nourish my body with nutritious foods and cut back on things that harm it. I’ll also spend a little extra time every week doing something I love like reading, visiting galleries and binge-watching live streams of Fashion Week. Damn, I might even make myself breakfast in bed one day.
And on the subject of love; I’m going to spread it to all the wonderful friends who bless my life. After all, everybody knows Valentine’s Day was just the starting point for a far more important occasion: Galentine’s!
