Remixed Prints

What I Wore: Remixed Prints - Fashion - Blonde Sartorial - Fashion & Lifestyle by Bec Oakes

There’s an old rule that says “don’t mix your prints”, but I, alongside a large proportion of the fashion community are calling bullshit on this outdated notion. I love wearing classic prints like leopard, plaid and stripes together, basking in the glory of mismatched patterns and clashing designs.

A surefire way to mix prints successfully is to make sure the prints are different enough that they really stand out from each other. The varying vertical stripes of my shirt and Black Watch plaid of my tennis skirt contrast one another, whilst keeping both items within the same tonal palette ensures an invariably put together ensemble.

A quilted belt bag by Gucci breaks up the patterns for a less busy outfit and the current apple of my eye – a pair of Balenciaga Triple S trainers – finish the look.

So, what are your thoughts on mixing prints? I’m not claiming to be an expert but I think it’s a perfect way to express yourself creatively and truly have fun with your style.

Peace and love, Bec
