My NYC Lookbook series shows what I wore on my recent trip to New York and, in some cases, insight into why I chose to wear what I did for certain places I visited and things I experienced. The first post in the series, NYC Lookbook: Part 1, was published last week.
Summer in the City
Being in New York for the Fourth of July, I decided to get into the spirit with a red ensemble (although it annoyingly looks more orange in photographs). It looks like a dress but is in fact a cropped blouse and midi skirt. I felt wonderful floating around Central Park in such a full skirt and the linen mix material was perfect for the sweltering heat.
I kept accessories pretty simple with chunky trainers and broke up the block of red colour with my Gucci belt bag. Lastly the humidity was unlike anything I’d ever experienced so I styled my hair in a Bella Hadid inspired low bun and added interest with a textured scrunchie.
Spotted on the steps of The Met: a 23 year old in a schoolgirl inspired plaid pinafore she bought specifically to wear whilst being photographed on the steps of The Met. But seriously, a trip to NYC wouldn’t be complete without visiting a few haunts from one of my favourite TV shows, Gossip Girl.
On the day we chose to visit The Met, I wore a plaid pinafore à la the young ladies of Constance Billard School for Girls. Underneath I wore a simple white cotton t-shirt (the heat wouldn’t allow anything else). My Gucci belt bag once again added definition to the waist and chunky white trainers finished the look because comfortable footwear was essential!
Lastly, in the true spirit of Blair Waldorf, I styled my hair with a black Alice band and felt like a true Upper East Sider.
