The acid-green and black gingham is a unique take on the neon trend that has dominated street style this summer. It feels more sophisticated than the lycra and jersey pieces a lot of fast fashion retailers have been offering. The lightweight fabric is perfect for the on-and-off heatwave we’re experiencing in the UK at the moment and, despite a bold colour palette, it’s a surprisingly versatile piece and looks great with any iteration of denim. I also plan on layering it over a thin knitted jumper when Autumn approaches.
In this particular outfit, I’ve styled it with black ankle flare jeans and white ‘dad’ trainers. I finished the look with a black structured handbag I’m so obsessed with, I previously dedicated a whole post to it. The bright tones of the checks are grounded by the neutrals of the remainder of the outfit. They also allow the top to truly be the star of the show and the neon trend steals full focus.
