A quintessential summer print and one of the season’s hottest trends collide in a Ganni top I recently picked up at Selfridges. In the exact print of the seersucker midi dress everybody has been going wild over as of late, this cotton-blend smock top features a shirred bodice and self-tie shoulder straps.
The acid-green and black gingham is a unique take on the neon trend that has been dominating street style this summer and, I think, more sophisticated than the lycra and jersey pieces a lot of fast fashion retailers have been offering. The lightweight fabric is perfect for the on and off heatwave we’re experiencing in the UK at the moment and, despite a bold colour palette, it’s a surprisingly versatile piece and looks great with any iteration of denim. I also plan on layering it over a thin knitted jumper when Autumn approaches.
In this particular outfit, I’ve styled it with black ankle flare jeans, white ‘dad’ trainers and a black structured handbag I’m so obsessed with, I previously wrote a whole post dedicated to it. The neon-bright tones of the checks are grounded by the neutrals of the remainder of the outfit. They also allow the top to truly be the star of the show.
