I’m currently about half way through my summer break from university and the past two months have been filled with everything you may expect: amazing holidays (to New York and Milan), endless days lazing around in the sun and many hours spent shopping. But, I think it’s important to clarify that when I say “shopping”, I mean putting hundreds of pounds worth of clothing in my online shopping basket and very rarely hitting the “buy” button.
I don’t know what it is but I find it completely cathartic. I love fashion and following trends so maybe it’s seeing and acknowledging the trends that speak to me. Maybe it’s envisioning myself wearing such items and planning outfits around them. Or maybe it’s the act of self-discipline from not indulging myself in things that I want but don’t need.
Either way, I waste so much time putting things in online shopping baskets that I never end up buying but it’s fun and it’s relaxing and it’s ultimately a more financially responsible pastime than entering my card details and hitting that “buy” button every time. So, these babies will be staying put in my online shopping baskets, for now at least.
FRAME Cropped Leopard Print Pants
Available at net-a-porter.com I’ve loved these pants since I saw a picture of Kaia Gerber wearing them a few months ago, but while I was in New York I found a cheaper alternative in Urban Outfitters and snapped them up in an instant.
Bershka Buttoned Skort
Available at bershka.com I did not abandon this skort, rather it abandoned me by selling out before I could purchase it. I love the wrap-over style and black and white gingham is one of my favourite prints for summer. It’d look incredible with a basic black cami and chunky “dad” trainers and I’m definitely keeping my fingers crossed that it’ll come back in stock soon.
Topshop Bright Check Flares
Available at topshop.com These pants give off a similar vibe to the I.AM.GIA Polaris Pants which I’ve loved for a long time but are in high demand and almost always out of stock. I was about to click the almighty “buy” button on them then I realised the fabric was so thin you could see the model’s underwear.
Ash Addict Off-White Sneakers
Available at ashfootwear.co.uk If you’ve seen my previous OOTD posts you’ll probably have realised by now that I’m a little bit obsessed with the “dad” trainer trend and I think these are a great version. However, I’ve always had my heart set on the Balenciaga Triple S and I don’t these would ever compare so I’m holding out, saving up and have put my name on the wait list at my nearest Balenciaga stockist.
Dolce & Gabbana Stretch Sequinned Boots
Available at farfetch.com I’m a sucker for sequins and sparkle and these bad boys are dripping in them. However, as much as I’ve tried, I just can’t justify spending so much on a pair of shoes that I wouldn’t wear very often. So for now they’ll be remaining in the basket and in my dreams *cries.
Now, I know I’m not the only one filling then abandoning a shopping basket or two in my spare time. What have been loving but leaving recently?
