Purple has often been ignored in the fashion sphere because of its similarity to more popular shades; darker tones are overlooked in favour of navy and black whilst lighter tones pale in comparison to the omnipresent millennial pink. But, with Pantone choosing blue-based “Ultra Violet” as their Colour of the Year for 2018 (you can read more about it here), purple is finally having its moment to shine.
& Other Stories is one of my favourite brands at the moment, providing collections of high-quality contemporary clothing, shoes and accessories from ateliers in Paris, Stockholm and Los Angeles. I picked up this jumper on a visit to the Manchester store a few months ago. The bright violet hue caught my eye and the cropped silhouette, chunky knit and puffed sleeves stole my heart.
Despite it supposedly being the middle of summer, the Great British weather has been pretty nippy as of late. But, as frustrating as I’m sure everybody is finding it, I practically jumped at the opportunity to once again wear this cosy piece.
I paired the jumper with my favourite vinyl skinny trousers, a classic yet edgy staple in my wardrobe. Vinyl has been a steady trend for a couple of seasons and by what I saw in the A/W 2018 collections, its popularity will continue. I accessorised the look with a Gucci GG Marmont belt bag and a pair of “dad trainers”, both of which I received for my 23rd birthday earlier this year.
Just an additional note: I’m heading to Milan with friends for a few days and as much as I’d love to be inspired to write by this wonderful city, I will have neither the time or energy to do so while I’m there. As a result, there’ll be no Friday post this week and I’ll be giving an insight into my trip on June 25th. If you want to find out about my travels before then, you can follow me over on Instagram where I’ll be posting daily updates.
Peace and love, Bec
